Day 16 - This is getting personal...

Happy day, my friendlies!

Today there is a pre-interview post over at The Plot. The actual interview is tomorrow and looks to be fun because it's done by characters in the book! Also, this lovely day 16 brings us a great review over at Reading Mama The reason I like it so much is because there are actually 2 reviews there, one by Lissa (Reading Mama) and one by her daughter Anna who is 11 years old. And, being that my book is about teens, it's always so cool to get feedback from a real bonafide teen :)

When I went on my book tour through the schools, it was just so awesome to be up close and personal with the kids. They always had such great enthusiasm. But I  have to say, and most likely this is due to the Harry Potter phenom, it seems there is a bit of celebrity in being a writer now. Of course, there always has been in certain circles to a fair degree. But with kids its pretty intense now! I mean, they don't just want to know about characters and plots and writing routines, they want to know all about YOU!

I remember more than once feeling a bit weird when being asked if I was married. And what I planned to do with my millions! (had a good laugh with that one:) So, today, I'm going to reiterate some of the personal questions I get asked the most.

Are you married? No, I'm divorced. My ex-husband and I are still very good friends and in fact he helped me with my awesome award winning book trailer!

Will you get married again? (Yes, I have been asked this!) Actually, I won't. I really like the idea of having a mate, but still maintaining our separate homes. To me, this feels actually more natural and healthy than traditional living arrangements. The independence is very important. (This answer is always followed by a great deal of head tilts and crinkled noses)

Do you have kids? I have one daughter. She's 8. She's like a strand of the brightest sunshine that decided to hang out here with us mere mortals and show us a thing or two about joy!

How old are you? To which I ask "How old do I look?" to which they start yelling out numbers and once they reach the twenties I say "Man, you guys are good!"

Are you rich? Hahahahahahahahahahahaaah!

or the contrasting: Don't you get scared that you might be one of those starving artist writers who never get noticed until they die and even then no one...We do what we do because we love it, not for fame or fortune. (This is when they give me the shrewd 'yeah, right' looks)

Where do you live? In Canada. But where? In Alberta. Where in Alberta? Edmonton. Yeah, but like where? Uh...Like what's your address? I can't tell you that. Why not? Cause it's private. But you're like a famous author? Hahhahahahahaha!

How much do you weigh? Um...that's kind of personal. I'd guess you're....115. Man, you're good!

What's your favorite food? Chocolate and peanut butter.

Drink? Chai tea lattes.

Do you, like know any movie stars? No, but I went to the World Premiere of Lord of the Rings and met the cast! Even Orlando?!! Well, he didn't actually talk to me but...(too late! No Orlando, no interest!)

What kind of car do you drive? A Prius (to which I get a fair amount of approving nods)

Can I ride in your car? I don't think so. Why not? (this is when a teacher usually signals wrap up)

Have a delicioso day!

K
