Book Signings

This picture was taken at Chapters during the signing tour I did recently. And I have to say, the whole Chapters/Indigo/Coles chain has been just fantastic! Especially the Southside Coles (Mitcie), Londonderry Coles (Sandra), St. Albert Chapters ( Lana), Indigo (Brenda) and Kingsway Coles (Jackie). These stores have so generously displayed and talked up "Root" so that it has sold out many times and I can't thank them enough.

And a special thank you to Laura at the St. Albert Chapters who took Root with her to schools for their Book Fairs. I was blown away by her generosity and enthusiasm!

Tom Pedeson, the Coles regional manager first took "The Questory" under his wing in November and from there we worked out a whirlwind book signing tour that, despite a few bumps here and there was a great success in getting the book out. Tom used to write scripts for me way back in the early theatre days so it was great fun touching base again.

I am expecting to also have "Root" in the airport Indigo this week, which should be pretty cool. I love the idea of it being bought and taken to some far away place. Sort of like the wind picking up a seed and dropping it off miles later where it can start spreading new growth. I love that.

Book signings are awesome! They're such a great way to meet people and man, have I met some interesting people! I was hoping to set up a few more during the Spring Break but am not wanting to distract from book 2's momentum. Hmmmmm...perhaps, I will revisit my schedule and see if I can make it work. You can check the website for any upcoming dates and events. If I am able to do some signings, I will definitely bring some some more hot and tasty Chorm and dogtags!

Back to writing....:)

That's cool, the idea of it traveling to distant lands. I guess that's how the word is spread. I will look for "Root Karbunkulus" the next time I'm at the airport!

I always buy books when the author is at the stores. It's a wonderful opportunity to meet them and get an autograph. I wish the stores would do more of them. I will keep my eye out for you, Kamilla :)

When book two comes out will you be going to the same schools you went for book one?

Hi Benjamin,

I would absolutely love to revisit the schools that hosted me for book one's tour!

I always dread the signings, hate the pressure and the lousy crowds but alas, tis the duty of the author.

Sometimes the store cannot accommodate as we would like but it can definitely be of great benefit. I really love the school readings as it is usually for 100+ kids without interruption. Great fun!
