Match it for Pratchett
Sunday, March 30, 2008 - 8:16am

I have to admit I'm quite behind in the times when it comes to reading Terry Pratchett. In fact my introduction to his work was mere weeks ago via a review of "The Questory" that favorably compared my writing with his. Since then I have delved into "Discworld" and literally gasped at his craftmanship. Wow. What a compliment to have been placed into such funny and clever territory. He is a brilliant artist and I urge you to hot foot it over to Coles or Chapters or Borders or Barnes and Nobles (if you haven't already, being that I'm the Pratchett dinosaur here) and pick up one of the gazillion books in the Discworld series. I'm on "The Hogfather" and it is a hoot!
But this is not just about Terry Pratchett books. This is about the man himself.
Terry Pratchett has been recently diagnosed with a rare form of Alzheimer's. He has donated half a million pounds (approx $1 million) to Alzheimer's research and appeared in the media highlighting the low levels of research funding Alzheimer's receives. Millions of loyal readers from around the world have responded and are helping to match Terry's donation.
If you would like to take part in this effort that is now reaching global levels, perhaps show your gratitude for the hours he gave you in laughter and imagination, go to the matchitforpratchett website. They have all the information you need.
